Country Hitmaker Hillary Lindsey Performs With Lady Gaga [Watch]
Lady Gaga took it back to her roots on Wednesday night (Oct. 5) when she played Nashville's 5 Spot on her not-so-secret Dive Bar Tour. The pop star kicked off her mini new music tour fittingly in Music City, showcasing a performance with one of her co-writers, the city's own Hillary Lindsey.
The singer debuted one new song called "Million Reasons," which she wrote with Lindsey.
“I wrote this song with a Nashville native, Hillary Lindsey,” Gaga told the crowd before performing “Million Reasons.” “We sat on a couch together, and we were going back and forth, guitar and piano, and we were going, ‘Why these men, you know?’ All these men — my dad, my boyfriend, all the men in my life — they gave me a million reasons [to leave], but I just need one good one to stick around but you're giving me a million to walk away. Ladies and gentlemen, Hillary Lindsey.”
The power ballad showcased Gaga on vocals, while Lindsey shared the microphone on harmonies. Watch their performance together at the 37 minute mark. In addition to writing "Million Reasons" with Gaga, Lindsey also wrote two more songs off Gaga's forthcoming album Joanne, including “A-Yo” and “Grigio Girls.”
Lindsey is no stranger to writing with superstars. The singer has several Carrie Underwood credits to her name, including “Jesus Take the Wheel,” “Church Bells” and “Dirty Laundry.” She has also won a Grammy and a CMA for Little Big Town's “Girl Crush,” which she co-wrote with Liz Rose and Lori McKenna.
