I always seem to get a little under the weather every time I go on vacation. It the change of climate and altitude that does it to me. Last night I was having a bit of an ear ache. Seeing that I will be flying in a few days I definitely wanted to get a jump on before I had to fly.

I have to admit that I did enlist the help of Siri. I am a very big believer in essential oils, so I asked Siri if there was an essential oil you could use for an earache.

I already knew you could heat oil, like sweet oil, olive oil, or baby oil and put it in your ear, let it sit for a minute and then let it run out, to make your ear feel better. So, I did that! I heated up some olive oil and put a little in my ear, to get the heat in there. It's the heat that helps make the ear feel better. You can also add garlic or cinnamon to the oil. Garlic is a natural antiseptic and anti inflammatory.

Where does the peppermint essential oil come in, you ask? I took the left over olive oil and mixed a few drops of peppermint oil in with hit and used a q-tip to put it on the outside of my ear.

It is very important that you don't put the peppermint oil in your ear. Just take a q-tip with the peppermint/olive oil mix and put it all around the ear, on the ear lobe, and around the opening. Once again DO NOT put the peppermint oil in your ear.

Then I heated up my rice sock and placed the warm sock on my ear and went to bed. I woke up this morning with no ear ache.

Another thing I like to use peppermint oil for is to relieve headaches. You can put the oil on the pressure point around your head and it should take it away.

I am no doctor, try at your own risk, and it may not work for everyone.
