After announcing their engagement in July of 2017, Josh Abbott and Taylor Parnell officially tied the knot on Sunday (July 8), just under a year later. Abbott tells People that their wedding celebration was all about being close to friends and family, right down to the location that they chose for the ceremony to take place: Austin, Texas.

"Taylor was born and raised in Austin. Her grandparents were influential in her life and we didn't want to make them travel for a destination wedding," Abbott explains. "Ultimately, the convenience and proximity of a wedding in downtown Austin was too good to pass up."

Of course, the bridal party wouldn't have been complete without its youngest member. The couple's daughter, Emery, who was born on May 5, 2017, made an appearance as one of the flower girls.

"She is a huge part of our life, so it was only fitting to have her about on the big day," Abbott tells People. Emery was also had a hand in the proposal: Abbott announced the engagement by posting an Instagram shot that showed his infant daughter lying next an open ring box with an engagement ring inside, wearing a onesie that read "Mommy, will you marry Daddy?" so it seems only fitting that she had an important role to play when the two finally made it official.

The wedding's timing is personal to the couple, too. "I proposed last July. We fell in love in Cabo two years ago in July. So we saw this as an amazing opportunity to have an anniversary in the same month and therefore every year moving forward, we will vacation most of the month to celebrate life and love!" Abbott explains.

The Josh Abbott Band's most recent release is the 2017 studio album Until My Voice Goes Out. It includes "Girl Down in Texas" and was heavily shaped by the death of Abbott's father in March of 2017.
