Today, from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m., Midland Need to Read will celebrate 30 years of literacy service to Midland County adults with an Open House Event at the Literacy House at 1709 W. Wall Street. All members of the community are invited to attend this free event. Guests will have to opportunity to tour the Literacy House, learn more about MN2R services, enjoy refreshments provided by Bernie’s Italian Ice & Concessions, grab a swag bag (while they last), win door prizes, and donate elementary-aged books and student supplies (such as pens, pencils, highlighters, index cards and pocket folders).

The Midland Need to Read program is designed to ignite lasting change for adult learners, their families, and ultimately our community. Services of MN2R are provided year-round and include: G.E.D. preparation, E.S.L. (English as a Second Language) development, and Adult Basic Education (including reading, writing, grammar, mathematics, and computers). When adults improve basic literacy skills, their transformations are nothing short of remarkable. They can find and keep jobs, enjoy better health, and educate their own children. Their new skills enable them to dream big, attain their goals, and move forward - and that means our community can advance, too.
