Thank You For All Your Support During the S.O.S. Drive in Midland! [PHOTOS]
Wow! The 4-3-2 showed yet again how generous they are to helping out our children!
It was a long day the Walmart in Midland as the Townsquare stations, Casa de Amigos volunteers and the West Texas Drillers volunteers.
Throughout the day, people arrived and donated cash or went shopping and came out with bags upon bags of supplies to donate. Then the shopping carts began to fill up.
It wasn't just parents or adults that were giving what they could. We had several children drop by and show how much they care about giving to their classmates.
We couldn't just collect your money and supplies without giving our part. Many of us, including Tawny the Rock Chick took the store aisles to get supplies for students!
After all was said and done, 14 shopping carts will filled with supplies there were buckets full of cash.
So what happens next? All of the donated items are taken to Casa where they are separated by grade level and what is needed at what schools. Then they'll be given to the families that need it.
The money that was donated is put on a gift card and then that will be used to buy school supplies for children as well.
We talked with Chris Stonedale, the Youth Education Director at Casa de Amigos.
"It means so much. Midland is a great community and we can't just survive on our own. We really have to rely on the generosity of the community and how much everyone does things to work together. Midland's always been a community town and we've proved it today by everyone coming out and giving donations."- Chris Stonedale
From all of us here at Townsquare Media, Casa de Amigos, Texas Power and Complex Community Federal Credit Union, thank you to everyone who came by and donated what they could. We really appreciate your generosity!
We'll be at the Walmart located at Parkway & 42nd Street in Odessa all day on Friday, August 23. Be sure to drop by and say hi and donate what you can. This drive will help provide supplies to the children in ECISD that may not be able to afford them before school starts in just a few days!
