With the passing of long time Sheriff Gary Painter, it was inevitable Midland County would get a new Sheriff.

In most people's mind one would think that the Chief Deputy would take over for the late Sheriff, however not the case in Midland County. An outsider was appointed until time for the election.

With multiple candidates running for the position, there were clearly two front runners Chief Deputy Rory McKinney and David Criner. 

According to our news partner NewsWest 9 David Criner won the election and will be the next Sheriff of Midland County.
