Carrie Underwood Releases Teaser for ‘Smoke Break’ Video [Watch]
The country superstar posted a short clip to her social media accounts on Sunday (Aug. 23), which shows her driving through the Mojave Desert in an old truck, flipping through stations and then breaking down in the middle of nowhere. She's wearing the short shorts that broke the internet a while back when E! teased a short clip from the shoot, along with a white tank top and a vest.
Underwood dropped the new single on Thursday (Aug. 20) after a Facebook chat where she revealed the song, as well as news of her upcoming album, Storyteller, which is due on Oct. 23.
Jay Joyce produced the new song, which Underwood wrote with Hillary Lindsey and Chris DeStefano.
"The song itself is just kind of one of those story songs that I feel like everybody can relate to about how life is so hectic and it’s so nice if and when you get to step away for a second, and we all need that time to ourselves, to get to take a break," she says.
She contributed to several of the songs on Storyteller, and those tracks take a new direction from some of her glossier efforts.
"I feel like a lot of the songs that I wrote and gravitated to ended up being more traditional and "twangy" than anything I have ever done before," she shares. "I just went with it! I love the story telling aspect of country music...it's one of the reasons I always wanted to be a part of it."
