As a gunman fired on the crowd at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival, Dee Jay Silver and his wife hunkered down, hoping they'd be able to see their little boy again. The 13-month-old was just down the hall from the 32nd floor Mandalay Bay hotel room 64-year-old Stephen Paddock was firing from.

Dee Jay Silver (real name John Perdue) and his wife Jenna would learn that their son Wake was just three doors away from the shooter as he shot at fans taking in a country concert.

"While John & I were at the festival, ducking behind buses, not knowing what was happening & fearing for our lives, our sweet baby slept through the horrific sounds coming from just down the hall that have now forever changed us," Jenna writes on Instagram.

Jenna's Aunt Mary was watching the baby, taking care of him for several hours until they could be reunited. He slept through the ordeal.

Along with Route 91 headliner Jason Aldean's team, they collectively regrouped and worked to reunite the family. Wake was born on Sept. 1, 2016. Jenna and Dee Jay married earlier in the year. Writes Jenna:

I'm still in shock & having a hard time gathering proper words for those who didn't make it & their families. I can't fathom the pain. Thank you to everyone who helped the injured so selflessly. Not everyone, including myself, is that brave. We are holding each other tight today & everyday. It's time to just love each other.

Thus far, no artists or their crew are known to have been seriously injured in the mass shooting that killed 58 and injured more than 500. Josh Abbott Band guitarist Caleb Keeter reports that part of his crew was hit by gunfire shrapnel. The extent of those injuries is not known.
