Kacey Musgraves -- her voice, at least -- is headed to the silver screen. The singer-songwriter has teamed up with Irish folk / alt-rock artist Foy Vance for a song that appears on the soundtrack for the upcoming movie Live By Night.

Vance and Musgraves' collaboration is a track called "Moonshine;" readers can press play on the video above to hear it. Vance has the lead on the tune, but listeners will hear Musgraves adding harmonies throughout the song.

“When I first heard [it], I got a really fun, Southern vibe from it,” Musgraves says in a behind-the-scenes video that shows the recording of "Moonshine" (viewers can watch it below), “and I thought that it would be kind of a fun challenge for me to figure out how to mix in my own flavor and my own bits of harmony with the song."

In Live By Night, which is set in the 1920s and '30s, Ben Affleck plays a bootlegger who gets involved with the mob; it's based on a novel of the same name, written by Dennis Lehane and released in 2012. The movie also stars Elle Fanning, Chris Messina, Sienna Miller and more, and is set for wide release on Friday (Jan. 13).

“I am one that loves a cinematic experience," Musgraves admits, “so I am very excited to go to the theater on the day that it comes out and sit with my friends and hear this song that I’m a part of.”

"Moonshine," as well as the rest of the music from Live By Night, is available for download on iTunes.
