Happy Birthday Charley Pride

We couldn't let the day get away without saying happy birthday to the legendary Charley Pride.

Charley Frank Pride was born March 18th, 1936 in Sledge, Mississippi. Charley is one of eleven children. Charley's life long dream was to play profession baseball.  He played in the American Negro League  for several years and then was traded to one of Yankee's farm teams.

After serving two years in the military, Charley tried to return to baseball but do to injury, his future in baseball was short lived.

He then visited Sun Studios in Memphis, TN, where he recorded a few songs.

Many years later he now has 39 number one hits and is a member of the Grand Ole Opry. In 2010 he became a special investor and minority owner of the Texas Rangers Baseball Club.

Today he is still touring and making music.
