Tune into the Legends Lunch today for a tribute to a legend himself: Waylon Jennings. Royalty in Outlaw Country Waylon started playing on the radio when he was only fourteen. Born in Littlefield, Texas, Waylon is a true West Texas native and even worked at several radio stations in the Lubbock Area. Buddy Holly saw something in young Waylon while touring KLLL, his most recent station, and took Waylon as his first managerial artist. Waylon toured with Holly until his death in 1959. Waylon thought himself the reason why Holly died in the plane crash.

Fed up with the restrictions of Nashville, Waylon helped form the image of Outlaw Country much to the protest of the labels. On February 13, 2002, Jennings died in his sleep of diabetic complications in Chandler, Arizona. He would've been 80 today. Make sure to check out the Legends Lunch today to celebrate this Outlaw's birthday!
