After church Sunday, I went to a local Mexican food restaurant.  After all that food, I decided I need to take a walk.  So I drove to the Wadley Barron Park, otherwise known as the Duck Pond.

The pictures don't do it justice.   The recent rains have filled the Duck Pond and you can tell the ducks, geese and turtles are very happy!  After circling around a couple of times, I got under a shady tree and took off my shoes.  The temperatures were in the 80s and there was a cool breeze.  The grass looked like it had just been mowed and was soft and cool to my feet.  I laid down and almost fell asleep.

If you have children, the Duck Pond is an excellent place to take them for exercise and to teach them about nature.  Or if, like me, you just need to walk off a few calories, there are few more enjoyable places locally.   There are plenty of benches and other places to sit and enjoy the day or evening.

If you're new to the area, the Duck Pond is on the corner of "A" and Cuthbert streets.

After these filling rains and before it gets too hot, I urge you to go out and enjoy one of the true local amenities we have at our disposal.  Speaking of disposal, remember not to litter.  There are 10 trash receptacles located all around the pond.  And Gwen tells me that you're not supposed to feed the ducks bread.  Feed them seeds instead.
