One year ago today I was one day post-op and recovering from a surgery that would change my life forever!

I really thought I was ready for what was in store, but I was wrong. I had been through all of the medical pre surgery stuff and even been approved by the psychiatrist. The things I have learned about myself and my health.

When people say, having the surgery is taking the easy way out, boy are they wrong! I had even said that myself before.

Before having surgery you definitely have to have your mind right! The hardest part for me, I would have to say the hardest part for me was the two week liquid diet. That was definitely a mental battle.

I remember the first time I took a drink after surgery and felt it all the way down. The next couple of weeks consisted of water, jello, broth, and pudding.

I have learned so much about myself in the past year. From my physical, mental, and psychological strength, my eyes have been open to so much.

One year later, I can say I have lost 87 lbs and over 20%! I feel better than I ever have in my life.

I couldn't have done this without the help of so many people. Thank you to Medical Center Hospital, Dr. Davenport and his staff, Mark Marin and the staff at Mission Fitness. I also could not have done it without my personal support system, my family, friends, and co-workers.
