Born April 14, 1932, Loretta Lynn would become of the staples and foundations for women in country music. She has been singing and performing for over 50 years.

Loretta Lynn has written over 160 songs, sold over 45 million albums and has had 16 number one hits.

Loretta Lynn married very early. On her sixth anniversary at just 21 years old, he husband bought her a $17 guitar, that she taught herself how to play.  When she was 24 her husband encouraged her to become a singer. Loretta pushed the envelope in country music by  focusing  on blue-collar women's issues with themes about cheating husbands and  mistresses, and pushed boundaries in the conservative genre of country music. She even sang about such controversial things as birth control, and back then that was something you didn't talk about.

She would later now be know as the Queen of Country Music. Loretta Lynn paved the way for many female country artist.  Country music would definitely not be what it is if it hadn't been for her!

Last but not least you can't for her song "Coal Miner's Daughter," inspired the story for the famous movie, which was the story of her life!
