It’s National Donut Day Donuts Got Me My Start In Radio
Today is National Donut Day! You may not know this but donuts changed my life. Donuts helped me get my start in radio.
People often ask me how I got my start in radio, first and foremost I always say God gave it to me because I won a contest. Back in 2004, KNFM, that's what LoneStar 92 was called back then, was holding a contest for a promotions person.
My job was not to really be on the radio but to be out in the public, like a promotions person or a stunt person. Every morning I would be out a remote location passing out donuts. I would stop at Wal-Mart every morning and pick them up and pass them out to anyone who stopped by. This was a great way for me to get to know our listeners and for them to know me.
Pretty soon you can imagine, I became sick of donuts, but I never knew they could have such an impact on my life. Now I don't eat donuts my stomach can't handle all the grease and the sugar, but I still consider them a sweet treat.
I would have to say my favorite donut, which I don't think exist anymore, was from the donut shop in Seminole. My favorite kind is just a plain glazed one.
Where do you get your favorite donut and what is your favorite kind?
